SOAP 03/20/2012; Psalm 69:3

Today's reading: Joshua 7,8; Psalms 69; 1 Corinthians 5

S)"3 I am weary with my crying; my throat is parched;
My eyes fail while I wait for my God."

Psalm 69:3 (NASB)

O) It's a hard thing to feel like you're at the end of your rope. The amazing thing about God, though, is that He's never late. While we might feel like we're literally on the brink of utter destruction, He knows better. He knows the limits of what we can take and He knows how long we can take it. Here, King David describes the familiar time of crying till you can't cry anymore. Even still, he waits upon the LORD.

A) I have been there, right alongside David. The important thing is to continue to wait upon my God. Right now, in my life, I have great peace. My marriage is good, my children are good, my job is good. Things are going generally well and that's genuinely good cause for thankfulness to God. I need to remember, though, that great trials could be a moment away. I need to be prepared and remember that the God of my easy-now will be the same God of my hard-future. So, in the middle of trials and tribulations, I need to wait upon Him to restore the peace and prosperity I have now. In the middle of that tough time, I need to praise and thank Him just like I do today.

P) Father, You are good, regardless of my circumstance. I commit to being thankful to You, faithful in praising and worshiping You, regardless of my circumstances. Holy Spirit, when trials come, and they will, comfort and strengthen me to wait upon my God. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
